FAQ

Backup support questions

Doesn't Microsoft already back up our email and files?

Microsoft keeps its service running, but deleted or encrypted items are only recoverable for a limited time. A separate Microsoft 365 backup gives you your own copies to restore from.

Is a USB drive or external hard drive enough?

It's better than nothing, but a drive that stays plugged in can fail, be stolen with the computer, or be encrypted by ransomware along with everything else. We recommend at least one copy kept offsite.

How do I know my backups will work?

By testing them. We restore sample files on a regular schedule and tell you the results, so you aren't finding out during an emergency.
